Document photo rules: format is not approval
Start with the authority receiving your application. A correctly sized photo is useful only when that authority also accepts the way it was taken and delivered. Language and storefront currency do not determine document nationality.
Choose a source, not just a size
Each catalogue entry gives a source, review date and confidence level. Read the authority’s current instructions before ordering; a generic biometric format is not a substitute for document-specific rules. File type, resolution, photo age and delivery can matter independently of printed dimensions.
Domestic German applications need a secure channel
For German passport applications in Germany, the photo must be taken by the authority or securely transmitted by a participating provider. PassPixo does not provide that channel. Its JPG or print is not a substitute, and purchases of the German passport format are blocked. A narrow overseas paper exception requires confirmation from the issuing office.
Swedish passports are photographed by the police
For Swedish passports and national identity cards, the police take the photo at the passport office. Do not buy a separate image to replace it. Other countries’ visas may use a different process; check the particular application rather than generalising from where you live.
Keep identity and uncertainty visible
The browser check estimates measurable image properties such as lighting, sharpness and face position. It cannot decide official acceptance. PassPixo does not retouch your face; uncertain criteria remain unchecked. Keep the original photograph and ask the receiving authority when its instructions are unclear.
